  • To Decorate or Not?

The holidays have long since been a tough time for me. I pretty much didn't decorate at all for them until last year. And then it was only because a friend of mine ambushed me the year before the day after Christmas and we bought the tree and all the ornaments. Last year I had a roommate and we did the decorating together. It was also part of my "embrace the holidays" plan. And it ended up being a wonderful season.

This year I've gone back and forth on it. My roommate is no longer here. Bill, whom I started dating right after Thanksgiving, has passed away. He gave me a nativity set. Did I want to set it out and be reminded? I wasn't sure. I talked to a friend. She encouraged me that it was part of the season and part of moving on to decorate, so today Allison and her two girls came over and helped. They had a great time playing with Mali as well. Here are some pictures:

It's a prelit tree. Elena and I tried and tried to figure out why the bottom didn't light. Allison found it in minutes!

Grace and Mali loved this big bin that I store the tree in. They were in it and under it and on it!

This is the Nativity that Bill got me. I am missing the 3 Wise Men.

Elena loved cuddling Mali. And Mali tolerated it all well!

    Have great weeks!

  • That is a really pretty tree. I hear you about decorating. Hubby and I are having a hard Christmas due to family problems (see my newest post). But just putting  up the tree and the decorations lightens up the place a bit!

  • Great job having friends over to decorate.  I think the nativity is a great way to keep Bill with you.  When you add the wise men, don't forget the stars.

I'm a big Willow Tree fan...and SO green that you have the set.  It is a marvelous way to commemorate your life together.
